The GeoPost, company that operates in the express transport sector, has become the first operator to introduce carbon neutral shipping, a service that will have added costs to the customer and that starts in July.
"With this initiative, GeoPost can reduce their environmental impact, reducing carbon emissions. After making your measurement, [the GeoPost] may act in terms of carbon offsetting, "the trackchecker company said in a statement.
Since 2006 GeoPost has regularly measure their carbon emissions trackchecker and to invest in reducing their carbon footprint. The big news this initiative becomes the offset of carbon dioxide (CO2), through a partnership with CDC Climat. This company will work with GeoPost to identify compensation projects that can be performed in Europe or worldwide.
There are several group companies that have developed initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions. For example, Chronopost trackchecker France has invested in the purchase of electric trackchecker vehicles to Paris, Toulouse, Marseille, Montpellier, Grenoble and Colmar; Exapaq the French trackchecker will renew its fleet by 2015; DPD and the UK will invest in two-story trailers that allow you to carry a third more cargo volume compared to a trailer trackchecker floor.
Also remember that Chronopost Portugal, a subsidiary of GeoPost, in 2011 developed a draft training trackchecker in eco-driving. The company is also implementing the Chrono City an "electric trolley that allows for both collection and delivery of documents and small parcels in densely populated areas, in most Portuguese cities.
